David Popp

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice for David S. Popp, age 61 of Rice who passed away on Friday at his home. Rev. Kenneth Popp will officiate and Rev. Thomas Becker will concelebrate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and also one hour prior to Mass of Resurrection at the church in Rice on Tuesday morning. Knights of Columbus Bishop Busch Council #9138 will pray at 7:30 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

David Sylvester Popp was born on October 4, 1951 in Saint Cloud to Arthur and Regina (Fiedler) Popp. He was a car loader and forklift driver for St. Regis, now Verso, for 34 years, retiring in 2012. David was in the seminary from 1972-1975 in Washington D.C considering the Franciscan Brotherhood. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he was a lector and a member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Busch Council #9138. David enjoyed traveling, especially to Deadwood, cross country skiing, hiking, bicycling, and driving his motorcycle. He was a man of great integrity, loved his family and prayed for them often. David was encouraging to others, easy going and very spiritual. Nature was important to him and he shared the same passion as St. Francis, always caring, giving and looking after those who were less fortunate. His catholic faith was very important to him.

Survivors include the joy of his life, Mary Lapinski of Rice; brothers and sisters, Arthur Jr. (Patricia) of Rice, Darla (David) Euteneuer of Big Lake, Rev. Kenneth Popp of Pierz and Buckman, Gary (Dianna) of Rice, Joanne (Vince) Karls of Sauk Rapids and Pamela (Tom) Erdmann of St. Michael; step-mother, Mary Popp of Sartell; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
